I have a Nordic Ware product but have lost the directions or recipe.

Please contact us and we will be happy to assist. Our representatives are typically able to email product use/care details and recipes to you.

How do I return a product to Nordic Ware for repair or replacement?

We want you to be fully satisfied with our products. If for any reason the product you’ve purchased is defective within its stated warranty period, please contact us for instructions.

How do I exercise my warranty?

Your warranty goes into effect when your Nordic Ware product is purchased, so there is no need to contact us to register a product. Please keep your sales receipt or make note of the date of purchase and store where the purchase occurred. If you have a problem caused by a factory defect within the warranty period, please contact us.

May I use aerosol sprays or oils on my Nordic Ware cookware?

For best results and longevity of your pan, do not use aerosol cooking sprays on Nordic Ware cookware. These sprays can leave a residue that is very difficult to remove from the pan. Try using an oil mister filled with your favourite olive oil, or use a pastry brush to spread a thin coat of butter or cooking oil across the surface of your pan for lower-fat cooking.

Does my new Nordic Ware pan require a one-time seasoning before its first use?

As our products are made from cast aluminium rather than cast iron, you do not need to do a one-time seasoning of your new Nordic Ware pan. Please see our use and care instructions on each product page for all that you’ll need to know about caring for your pan.

Is my Nordic Ware pan compatible with my induction stovetop?

Many Nordic Ware products will perform on an induction stove top. Induction stoves require a pan with magnetic properties, so anything made from steel or iron is sufficient. You can test your pan by holding any magnet to it to see if it sticks—if so, it will work on your induction stovetop. Nordic Ware’s Rangeware line of cookware is induction-compatible, as are various other pieces within our line. If you have further questions, please contact us.

Can I use my Nordic Ware pan on a flat/ceramic/glass stovetop?

Most Nordic Ware cookware products perform flawlessly on glass/flat/ceramic stovetops, with some possessing specific design traits that make them even more effective on flat solid surfaces. Cast aluminium is lightweight enough that it can safely be used on these types of stoves even where cast iron cannot. Please contact us for details about a specific product, and always exercise normal precautions and care when placing any cookware item onto a glass/flat/ceramic top stove.

Is my Nordic Ware plastic product BPA-free and melamine-free?

Yes! All of our moulded plastic products are food safe and 100% BPA-free and melamine-free. These plastics include all of the pieces in our microwave cookware and dinnerware line, as well as all of our cake and dessert storage and serving pieces and our mixing bowls.

Is your nonstick coating safe and does it contain TEFLON?

The nonstick coatings that Nordic Ware uses on all of its cookware and bakeware products are formulated to our specifications and produced in the USA by coatings companies that also supply the medical, military, food service and aerospace industries. We have chosen our suppliers because of their ability to meet our very precise quality standards. The coatings we use vary based on what type of food they will be releasing, and what temperatures the cooking vessel will reach.

Our bakeware coatings are and have always been PTFE and PFOA-free, since an entirely different formulation is necessary to release sugars (associated with baking) than proteins (associated with meats and dairy).

Our cookware coatings can be one of several formulations, depending on what substrate material they’re being applied to (cast aluminium versus aluminized steel). We are able to state that PFOA is not present in any of the coating formulations that we currently use on consumer cookware products. PTFE (an entirely different compound than PFOA) is the material that gives nonstick surfaces their ‘slipperiness’ and is widely used in consumer cookware coatings, including many of Nordic Ware’s stovetop cookware products.

Teflon® is a registered trademark of DuPont and refers to a specific nonstick coating that they exclusively manufacture. Teflon® is not used by Nordic Ware for any consumer cookware or bakeware finishes at this time.

If you have additional questions about the nonstick coatings that Nordic Ware uses, please contact us.

Can nonstick cookware harm my pet bird?

When nonstick cookware is used as recommended, it does not pose a threat to your pet bird’s health. Birds have very sensitive respiratory systems and are easily affected by smells and smoke—for example, smoking bacon, burned toast, or overheated cooking oil or butter, all of which can result quickly from an overheated pan on your stove or in your oven. As everyone experiences this from time to time, we recommend removing pet birds from your kitchen when you are cooking or baking.

I’ve heard rumours about a connection between aluminium and Alzheimer’s disease is there truth to it?

Here is what the American Alzheimer’s Association has to say about aluminium on their myths page:

Myth 4: Drinking out of aluminium cans or cooking in aluminium pots and pans can lead to Alzheimer’s disease.

Reality: During the 1960s and 1970s, aluminium emerged as a possible suspect in Alzheimer’s. This suspicion led to concern about exposure to aluminium through everyday sources such as pots and pans, beverage cans, antacids and antiperspirants. Since then, studies have failed to confirm any role for aluminium in causing Alzheimer’s. Experts today focus on other areas of research, and few believe that everyday sources of aluminium pose any threat.
